MEET BRUCE ALSANDOR

Born and raised in Opelousas, Bruce Alsandor has dedicated nearly four decades of his life to public service through a career in local, state, and federal law enforcement.

Bruce began his law enforcement career with the Opelousas Police Department, where he served in patrol, narcotics, community policing, dignitary protection, the motorcycle unit, public information, and supervision. He rose through the ranks, ultimately attaining the rank of Lieutenant and serving as a Shift Commander.

While serving with the Opelousas Police Department, Bruce also served for a period of time as a commissioned Deputy Marshal with the Opelousas City Marshal’s Office in a volunteer capacity. That experience gave him firsthand knowledge of court operations and the responsibilities of the Marshal’s Office.

Bruce later joined the Louisiana Office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control, where he advanced to Special Agent in Charge of the Training and Support Division and later served as Interim Enforcement Director, taking on significant leadership and management responsibilities within the agency. He also represented the agency as its governmental affairs liaison and held a federal commission through the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as part of a federal-state enforcement partnership.

Today, Bruce serves as a commissioned Special Deputy Marshal with the United States Marshals Service, assigned to judicial security at the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana.

Bruce’s commitment to service goes beyond the badge. He currently serves as Assistant Governor, Region 7, Rotary District 6200, and on the Board of Directors of St. Landry Crime Stoppers. He also served for four years as President of the Opelousas Imperial Mardi Gras Association.

After nearly four decades in law enforcement and a lifetime in the community he proudly calls home, Bruce is ready to put that experience to work for the people of Opelousas and Ward 1. He understands the responsibility that comes with the office and believes every person should be treated fairly, professionally, and with respect.
